Off to Amsterdam for the European SharePoint Conference 2023

The European SharePoint, Office 365, and Azure Conference (ESPC 2023) starts in Amsterdam on Monday, November 27. There’s lots of Copilot and Viva content at the event, but a disappointing lack of coverage of Exchange Online and Entra ID, both of which are essential to any Microsoft 365 deployment. Oh well… you can’t have everything and ESPC 2023 will be a great event.

Office 365 Reports Stole My Code

The success of the PowerShell Community is rooted in sharing knowledge and code. This makes it difficult when a company like Office 365 Reports (AdminDroid) steals code from PowerShell scripts written by other people and uses the code for their commercial purposes. I don’t like when this happens. I don’t like when the miscreant ignores my protest, so this article explains what happened and why this is a simple case of plagiarism.

MEC and TEC in Two Weeks

Over the next two weeks, I’ll attend and present at the Microsoft Exchange Conference and The Experts Conference (MEC and TEC). It should be fun! It’s nice to see conferences gradually returning to normal. I prefer in-person events and am looking forward to TEC in Atlanta on September 20-21. Before then, there’s the small matter of presenting two sessions at MEC 2022.

Meet Office 365 for IT Pros at the European Collaboration Summit 2021

The Office 365 for IT Pros team will be at the European Collaboration Summit (ECS) in Dusseldorf. Come to listen to Tony talk about sensitivity labels on Tuesday or Paul discuss tenant to tenant migration on Wednesday. ECS is a great community-led event that’s well worth attending if you find yourself in Europe and have the ability to travel to Germany. Don’t forget your mask!

How to Access the TEC 2021 Session Videos

You can now access videos and slides for sessions given at The Experts Conference 2021. The sessions cover a wide range of technology from Azure AD to Microsoft 365 to infrastructure modernization. And you can now register for TEC 2022, which will run as an in-person event in Atlanta on September 20-21, 2022. It should be great fun!

Quadrotech and Quest Combine

Quest has acquired Quadrotech to add to their portfolio of Office 365 applications designed to help organizations get date into the cloud and manage it when it’s there. Recent Quest acquisitions of Metalogix, Binary Tree, and now Quadrotech give it a bunch of technology, notably in the area of tenant-to-tenant migrations.

Four Videos About Interesting Tidbits from Microsoft Ignite 2019

Lots of announcements and other news flowed at the Microsoft Ignite 2019 Conference. Here’s a YouTube playlist for four short videos about interesting topics from the conference. We cover Office 365, Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, and the famous “Office 365 substrate.”

Great Little Technology Conferences (for Office 365)

Over the next few months, Tony will speak at a number of small but intense technology conferences. The nice things about these conferences is that attendees and speakers mingle much more than they do at the uber-conferences. If you feel like coming along to The Experts Conference, ShiftHappens, the European Collaboration Summit, or Experts Live Norway, you can learn more about Office 365 and associated technologies without going through the wildness that Ignite can be at times.

Who Will Lead Your Office 365 Deployment?

A recent Petri.com article set out the case that the technical lead for Office 365 deployments is best found in the ranks of people experienced with Exchange. The uphot was a flurry of tweets where people who worked with SharePoint and Skype explained their (strong) feelings on the matter. The upshot was an online debate to explore the attributes of people who lead successful Office 365 deployments. You can listen to a recording online.

Microsoft 365 Licensing, Yammer and Teams, Office DPIA, and Exchange

Office 365 changes all the time, which is good because it keeps the Office 365 for IT Pros writing team busy and happy. Discussions this week included Microsoft’s response to a Dutch DPIA, the effect large Teams have on Yammer, how Exchange Online validated a fix to a security problem, and graphics to help understand the components of the Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 plans.

Office 365 Tenants to Microsoft: Send Training Tips to End Users – No Thanks!

Microsoft’s grand plan to send helpful emails to Office 365 users hit a roadblock when customers said “No thanks” to the idea. Microsoft has now taken the plan back for mature reflection. Does this kind of initiative reflect a certain arrogance on the part of Microsoft?

Office 365 Exposed Episode #12

Paul Robichaux and Tony Redmond took the chance to tape an episode of Office 365 Exposed at the Ignite 2018 conference. After uploading the video to Stream, it was interesting to see what Stream’s intelligent voice recognition technology made of the soundtrack when it came to creating an automatic transcript.
